Annu’s Dream

In the heart of a bustling city, where the sounds of life mingled with the struggle for survival, lived a ten-year-old girl named Annu Kumari. Her home was a cramped space in a slum, a place filledwith the echoes of hope and despair. Annu’s father had passed away when she was just two, leaving her mother to shoulder the weight of their world alone.

As Annu grew older, she began to understand the weight of her mother’s burdens. They often went to bed hungry, and the sight of her mother’s tired eyes made Annu ache with helplessness. Desperate to help, Annu started collecting garbage each day, sifting through the streets to find items to sell at the market. Her earnings ranged from 30 to 50 rupees a day, just enough to buy a little food and contribute to their household. Though her meals often lacked nourishment, Annu’s spirit remained unbroken, fueled by a dream that soared high above her circumstances.

To help, Annu took to the streets each day, collecting scraps and garbage. With her small hands, she gathered what others discarded, turning it into a modest income. Each day, she earned between 30 to 50 rupees, just enough to buy a little food and contribute to their household. Though her meals often lacked nourishment, Annu’s spirit remained unbroken, fueled by a dream that soared high above hercircumstances.

Despite the hardships, Annu held onto a dream that soared beyond her circumstances: she wanted to become a doctor. She yearned for an education, to learn how to heal and help others. But the lack of funds made even the basics of schooling seem like an unattainable luxury. Books and pencils were distant dreams, overshadowed by the need for daily survival.
